Bad news: GoogaMooga is sold out. Good news: I found some other events that will make missing out on Arancini Bros/Bear Hands a little less painful.
1. Gilt City is offering VIP tickets to Finger on the Pulse’s 5th annual BBQ Blowout, taking place Wednesday, May 16 from 7–10 pm at Good Co. There will be food courtesy of Joe Carroll and Yvon de Tassigny (Fette Sau, St. Anselm), Brooklyn Brewery beer, and a DJ set by Turing Machine, all on Good Co.’s massive patio. 2. Over Memorial Day weekend, Governors Island is hosting the 5 Boro PicNYC—a celebration of craft beer, gourmet food, and live music. Besides more than 20 food stations (including Jimmy’s No. 43, East Village Meat Market, and Lucky 777 Chili), there will be Sixpoint Brewery beer, a grilled cheese cook-off with chefs like Corey Cova of Earl’s Beer & Cheese, hot sauce tastings, and a taco challenge with tortillas from Tortilleria Nixtamal. Tickets are $25 and include one beer ticket and unlimited food samplings from 11:30-2.
