Lots to do this weekend!
A) Section 2 of the High Line has arrived, and with it comes Tom Colicchio’s new outdoor bar The Lot on Tap. Located in a parking lot on 30th Street directly beneath the High Line, the Lot will feature domestic wines, local beers, and non-alcoholic sodas as well as a rotating series of food trucks like Coolhaus, Kelvin Natural Slush Co., Red Hook Lobster Pound, Taim Mobile, and The Taco Truck. There’s also a public art installation of inflatable sculptures to take in while you stuff your face.
B) The Hester Street Fair is now open on Sundays for food blowouts! The Sunday Summer Picnics will include new vendors like Peels pastry chef Shuna Lydon, who will be dishing up a Devil’s Food cake frosted with milk-chocolate ganache and topped with vanilla-marshmallow swirl, and Brooklyn Farmacy, selling floats with carrot spice and coconut ice cream. There will also be 25 communal picnic tables, Ping-Pong, badminton, and live music. Sounds like a nice little Sunday!
C) If you have enough time…The New Amsterdam Market started up again last Sunday, and will run most Sundays through December. Go for Maryland crab cakes from National Crab, rhubarb pies from Pie Corps, and ice cream sodas from P&H Soda and La Newyorkina.
